New Delhi: India has emerged as a troubleshooter for Sri Lanka, which is going through an economic crisis. India's High Commissioner to Sri Lanka Gopal Baglay said that this year India has already sent $2500 million in financial assistance to Sri Lanka since January this year, which means about Rs 19,000 crore. He said India stands up to help Sri Lanka.

On Saturday alone, India transported a consignment of 40,000 metric tonnes of diesel from India to Sri Lanka to fulfil the needs of Sri Lanka, which is facing an economic and energy crisis. This is the fourth such assistance from India. Gopal Baglay said that more than 1,50,000 metric tonnes of jet fuel, diesel and petrol have been transported to Sri Lanka in these four consignments.

Let us know that India has approved a $1 billion line of credit line to Sri Lanka. This will help Sri Lanka to meet the shortage of essential commodities. India is the world's largest rice exporter. In such a situation, after the consignment of rice from India reaches Sri Lanka, the prices of rice there are expected to come down, which have doubled in the last year. Sri Lanka is also in talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to address the economic threat. Meanwhile, Amnesty Wachdag, who monitors London's fundamental rights, warned the Sri Lankan government that declaring a state of emergency in the country in the name of protecting the people should not be an excuse for a violation of human rights. A countrywide curfew has been announced in Sri Lanka, which will last from 6 am on Saturday to 6 am on Monday. Inflation is at its peak in Sri Lanka with a severe power crisis.
