Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is gearing up for a significant visit to Jammu and Kashmir, scheduled for February 20. His itinerary includes addressing a public rally at the Maulana Azad Stadium and inaugurating a series of developmental projects worth over Rs 30,500 crore in the region.

The Prime Minister's office announced that PM Modi will kick off the day's events with a public function at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu around 11:30 AM. The projects slated for inauguration span various sectors such as health, education, transportation, petroleum, and civic infrastructure.

Key highlights of the visit include:

Inauguration of Three IIMs:
PM Modi will inaugurate three Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), including one in Jammu, aiming to bolster the education sector in the region.

New Terminal Building for Jammu Airport:
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a modern terminal building at Jammu Airport, aimed at accommodating up to 2000 passengers during peak hours. The facility will boast state-of-the-art amenities.

Road Development Projects:
Foundation stones will be laid for several road projects, including those linking Delhi to Jammu's Katra via Expressway, Srinagar Ring Road, and upgrades to the Srinagar to Uri stretch of NH-01.

Common User Facility Petroleum Depot:
PM Modi will initiate the development of a Common User Facility (CUF) Petroleum depot in Jammu, with a storage capacity of approximately 100,000 kl for various petroleum products.

Distribution of Appointment Letters:
Around 1500 new government recruits in Jammu and Kashmir will receive appointment orders during the visit. Additionally, PM Modi will engage with beneficiaries of various government schemes as part of the 'Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu' initiative.

Inauguration of AIIMS Jammu:
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur (Samba), a crucial healthcare infrastructure project.

Rail Projects:
PM Modi will flag off the first Electric Train in the valley and introduce a new railway line between Banihal and Sangaldan, along with other railway projects.

Virtual Inauguration of Various Projects:
Several projects, including the highest railway bridge in Reasi district, the Devika river rejuvenation project, the Shahpur Kandi project, and IIM Jammu, will be virtually inaugurated.

Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation for 124 new projects in Jammu and Kashmir, encompassing industrial estates, road projects, bridges, and flats for Kashmiri migrants.

Prior to the visit, the Border Security Force and Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted an anti-tunnelling drive in the Ramgarh sector of Samba district along the Indo-Pak international border as part of security preparations.
