Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair Niti Aayog's Governing Council Sixth meeting on February 20 which will focus on issues related to health, economy and labour reforms, official sources said on Thursday.

Prime Minister Modi is the Chairman of Niti Aayog. Besides, the council, the apex body of Niti Aayog, includes all chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, several union ministers and senior government officials.

According to the statement from the sources, it said the council will deliberate on issues pertaining to health, including corornavirus vaccination programme, labour reforms, state of the economy et al. Further, the Governing Council will review action taken on the agenda items of the previous meetings and deliberate upon the future developmental priorities.

The Governing Council meets periodically, and its first meeting took place on February 8, 2015, and last meeing held on 15 June 2019. However, due to COVID-19 pandemic, the Governing Council did not meet last year.

So far, five meetings of the Council have been held under the Chairmanship of the Hon?ble Prime Minister with the Chief Ministers/ Lt. Governors of the States/ UTs and other members of NITI Aayog.

National Institution for Transforming India or NITI Aayog was constituted on 1 January 2015, to serve as the think tank of the Government of India with a Cabinet resolution.
