Director Prabhu Solomon’s son Sanjay is all set to make his acting debut with Dei Thagapa. The film is billed as a horror thriller, directed by debutant Kaushik Shribhuhar.

Kaushik, who has done plenty of short films earlier, says, “Sanjay and I go back a long way. Even though I am an engineering graduate, I have always been passionate about films. I began doing short films and some of my work even fetched me awards. Eventually, I began writing my first feature film script. Dei Thagapa is a horror film with commercial elements. The kind of ghost we have in this script... it’s not seen in Tamil cinema as yet. When I narrated the script to Sanjay, he liked it very much. Prabhu Solomon sir, too, has heard the one-line story and the songs.”

Newcomer Aradhya is playing the female lead in this film, while Madurai Muthu, Harshad Khan and Pappu, among others, will be seen in supporting roles. “Aradhya, too, has done several shorts and is a trained theatre artiste. We chose the rest of the cast based on the characters they will be playing,” says Kaushik.

On the script, he says, “The film revolves around a group of friends. They meet up at a location and things begin to go haywire. The story is set in Chennai and we will be shooting in some parts of Pondicherry, too.” The film has already gone on floors in Chennai.
