LONDON: The Premier League has announced the postponement of three matches viz. Liverpool v Chelsea, Manchester United v Leeds and Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace that are- scheduled for this weekend due to events related to the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II.

After a season-long hiatus in honour of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II's demise, the Premier League games will resume this weekend.

Three games have been postponed owing to activities related to the Queen's burial, leaving seven of the ten games this weekend to be played.

Two Premier League games will also have modified kickoff times.

The match between Chelsea FC and Liverpool FC at Stamford Bridge and Manchester United's game against Leeds United at home were both postponed for Sunday, September 18, the Premier League announced on Monday.

The match between Brighton & Hove Albion FC and Crystal Palace FC, scheduled for Saturday, September 17, at 3 p.m., has also been postponed.

The three games had to be postponed, according to a statement from the Premier League. "Following significant consultation with clubs, police, local Safety Advisory Groups and other relevant authorities, there was no alternative option," the statement read.

The UK Football Policing Unit, various national police agencies, and our broadcast partners are all appreciated for their assistance during this process, and the Premier League will be in touch with them in the lead-up to the weekend. At the Premier League stadiums, the Queen will be honoured for the games played during the time of national mourning.
