1 cup Idli batter
3 tbsp Gram flour
1 Onion, chopped
1 Green chili, chopped
5 Curry leaves
2 tsp Coriander leaves
1/4 tsp Mustard seeds
1/4 tsp Urad dal
1 tsp Oil for sautéing
Salt, as needed
Oil for deep frying
Heat 1 teaspoon of oil in a pan and add mustard seeds and urad dal. Let them splutter, then add the chopped onions, green chilies, and curry leaves. Sauté continuously until the onions become translucent. Turn off the stove and set aside.
Add this mixture to the idli batter. Mix gram flour with the batter, adding enough salt (be mindful as the idli batter already contains salt) along with coriander leaves. Vigorously combine all ingredients with a tablespoon and check for seasoning.
Heat oil in a pan for deep frying. Once the oil is hot, pour a tablespoon of batter directly into the hot oil. Repeat until all the batter is used. Fry the bondas in batches, removing excess oil by placing them on a paper towel.
Serve the bondas hot with delicious coconut chutney.
This simple recipe utilizes idli batter to create flavorful and quick bondas that are perfect for any occasion. Enjoy the crispy exterior and soft interior of these delightful snacks!
