New Delhi, November 3, 2023 - Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi kicked off the eagerly awaited second edition of the grand food extravaganza, 'World Food India 2023' at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi today.

In a remarkable initiative aimed at fortifying Self Help Groups (SHGs), the Prime Minister has announced the disbursement of Seed Capital Assistance to benefit more than one lakh SHG members. This generous support is designed to enhance SHGs' market competitiveness by improving their packaging and manufacturing quality. Additionally, Prime Minister Modi unveiled the Food Street, a captivating part of World Food India 2023 that promises to tantalize taste buds. This culinary delight will showcase a diverse array of regional cuisines and the rich heritage of royal Indian culinary traditions, featuring participation from over 200 accomplished chefs.

World Food India 2023 promises a diverse and captivating experience for visitors. The event will host several pavilions, each showcasing the innovation and robustness of the Indian food processing industry. With a strong focus on financial empowerment, quality assurance, and innovations in machinery and technology, World Food India 2023 is set to feature 48 insightful sessions.

This global extravaganza is expected to draw participants from more than 80 countries, including CEOs of renowned food processing companies. A key highlight is the Reverse Buyer Seller Meet, which will see over 1200 overseas buyers from more than 80 countries in attendance. The Netherlands has been honored as the partner country for the event, while Japan takes the spotlight as the focus country, according to the official statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

Celebrating the International Year of Millets 2023, World Food India 2023 has a special treat in store. A massive installation featuring 50,000 tetra-pack containers filled with millet beverages will be created and distributed to underprivileged children. As the event unfolds over three days, the anticipated 75,000 visitors will be treated to a cultural extravaganza, complete with captivating dance and musical performances.

The success of World Food India 2023 is poised to establish it as a marquee global food event in the country, matching similar international events. Notably, President Draupadi Murmu will deliver the valedictory address on November 5, marking the culmination of this spectacular event.
