LUCKNOW: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra cut short her visit and returned to Delhi on Thursday, according to a party leader.

Priyanka had arrived in Lucknow on Wednesday for the two-day 'Nav Sankalp Shivir,' where she addresses the party's recovery strategy in Uttar Pradesh.

Her decision to depart early was not explained, but sources stated she returned after learning that her mother, Sonia Gandhi, had tested positive for Covid.

"Yes, she has departed for New Delhi," said Pankaj Srivastava, vice chairman of the state Congress Media Committee. When asked if the sessions will resume on Thursday, Srivastava replied, "Our national secretaries have arrived, and the meeting is in progress. Nothing has been cancelled except for Priyankaji's show."

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi were issued a summons by the Enforcement Directorate on Wednesday with regard to the National Herald case, which was closed by the investigating agency in 2015.
