After being recognized in India, despite the party's apparent opposition to the CAA and NRC, general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra has taken over the reins after some senior leaders questioned the silence. After Priyanka's constant activism and intervention on this issue, it has been decided that the party will take to the streets all over the country on this issue on Sunday. The Congress had earlier decided the day of December 28. A sudden dharna program has been set under the leadership of Priyanka at Rajghat, one kilometer from the Prime Minister's rally at Ramlila Maidan. The Congress will sit on a peaceful symbolic strike from 2 to 6 pm. At the same time, there will be a sit-in demonstration led by the Chief Minister of Congress-ruled states and the state presidents elsewhere. Its command in Rajasthan is taken by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot.

According to media reports, Priyanka Gandhi issued a statement on the police action against protesters across the country, especially in dozens of cities of UP, saying that there is a massacre of dictatorship in the country to suppress the voice of the public. He again reiterated that NRC and Citizenship Amendment Act is against the poor people of the country. Priyanka has condemned the arrest of students, intellectuals, social workers, lawyers and journalists.

Apart from this, he says that Babasaheb Ambedkar's constitution will not be attacked at any cost. The people are fighting for the constitution by taking the road against this attack, but the government is bent on barbaric repression and violence. They say that the police are inciting people to violence in the ongoing protests and marches.
