Karnataka- Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that renowned Kannada writer and literary critic Prof Chandrashekar Patil's funeral rites would be conducted with full police honours.

"Our beloved 'Champa' has passed away. His writings were razor-sharp and full of autonomous thought. Through his analytical exposition of the difficulties, he used to hold a mirror up to the system. His final rites would be conducted with full police honours, "Bommai said.

Champa was the head of the All India Kannada Sahitya Parishat and received the Rajyotsava award, Bommai said., He also mentioned that the writer had a close relationship with his family.
