Amritsar: Punjab CM Amarinder Singh has accepted the resignation of Cabinet Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu in the Punjab government on Saturday. Sidhu had resigned from the state cabinet a few days ago. Sidhu had long been in a state of disarray with CM Amarinder and his portfolio was recently changed in the reorganization of the cabinet, after which he had earlier submitted his resignation to party leader and former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and then to Amarinder Singh.
On July 15, Navjot Singh Sidhu had put a halt to the efforts and said that he had submitted his resignation to CM Amarinder Singh. Sidhu wrote in a tweet, "I have sent my resignation today to Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh who has reached his official residence. However, CM Amarinder Singh had gone to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at that time.
Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had said in Delhi that Sidhu had sent his resignation to his residence. He will reach Chandigarh and read Sidhu's resignation letter first and take a decision thereafter. It is reported that Amarinder Singh has accepted Sidhu's resignation.
