Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu has said that Covid-19 RT-PCR tests will be conducted for all those arrested by the police to prevent the spread of corona inmates in jails in Punjab. Whether they have symptoms or not. Covid-19 RT-PCR test of all prisoners will also be conducted before sending them to regular jails.

If the number of samples to be taken is 40 and above, then a medical team of the Health Department will go to jail to collect samples. If the number of samples taken is less than 40, then the prisoners will be taken to the nearest sample collection centre. Emphasizing the training of health staff to collect and pack samples of Covid-19 working with the jail department and police department, he said that all health staff (medical and paramedical staff) posted in the jail department and police Training in packing of nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal swabs should be provided for sample collection and RT-PCR testing COVID-19.
