On June 1, voters in Ludhiana, Punjab, have an extra reason to cast their ballots in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Numerous hotels and restaurants in the district are offering a 25% discount on lunch and dinner bills for voters who show their ink-marked fingers as proof of voting.

This initiative, aimed at boosting voter turnout, was discussed in a meeting led by Amit Sareen, the additional district election officer and additional deputy commissioner of Ludhiana. Assistant Commissioner Kritika Goyal was also present at the meeting with local hotel and restaurant owners.

Amit Sareen expressed hope that the discount would motivate more people to vote on June 1, with the district administration aiming for a 70% voter turnout. Additionally, these set-ups will support the election campaign by displaying posters, hoardings, and banners to raise voter awareness.

Some of the notable places participating in this initiative include Underdoggs, Buvit, Blaasé, MBD Mall, Hotel Five Rivers, Iron Chef, Pirates of Grill, Enchanted Woods Club Limited, Majestic Hotels Park Plaza, Gola Sizzlers Ludhiana, Studio Xo Bar, Cafe Olio, Silver Arc Mall, Paragon Waterfront, The Beer Café, Hyatt Regency, Pyramid Café, Hotel Z Grand, Malhotra Regency, Radisson Blu Hotel, Las Vegas, Palm Court, Cafe Delhi Heights, A Hotel, Younger Bar, GSB Hospitality Private Limited, and more.

Ludhiana district has a total of 26,94,622 registered voters, comprising 14,35,624 males, 12,58,847 females, and 151 individuals of other genders. These voters will cast their ballots in the seventh phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.

On June 1, thirteen constituencies in Punjab, including Gurdaspur, Amritsar, Khadoor Sahib, Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Anandpur Sahib, Ludhiana, Fatehgarh Sahib, Faridkot, Firozpur, Bathinda, Sangrur, and Patiala, will go to the polls.
