Punjab's AAP Govt will present its maiden budget on June 27

CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, approved the convening of the 16th Vidhan Sabha's budget session on June 24 and the presenting the first budget of the AAP government on June 27. A decision was made in this regard at a Cabinet meeting here, which was chaired by Mann. 

The Cabinet gave its approval for the session to begin on June 24 with obituary references and a resolution of appreciation on the Governor's Address, followed by a discussion on it, according to the Chief Minister's Office.

On June 27, the Finance Minister will deliver the budget for 2022-23, followed by a broad discussion of the budget. During the session, the Comptroller and Auditor General's report for 2018-19 and 2019-20, along with the Financial and Appropriation Accounts for 2019-20 and 2020-21, will be tabled.

The Cabinet also gave the green light for Markfed, the state nodal agency for crop purchase, to provide the minimum support price (MSP) on summer moong at Rs 7,275 per quintal for 2022-23, to save natural resources in terms of groundwater, improve soil health, and generate additional income for farmers.

It was also resolved to grant the agency with viability gap financing of Rs 1,875 per quintal, totaling almost Rs 66.56 crore.
