As Padman starrer Akshay Kumar, Sonam Kapoor and Radhika Apte is going to hit the silver screen on 9th Feb 2018. Applauding the role of Akshay Kumar the director of the movie R Balki said in the interview that When he was asked if he was apprehensive about making a movie that is based on the topic of menstruation, Balki replied, "No, I never thought about it. An objection to this film would be an objection to women. it's as fundamental as that. But I'm so touched by the effort that our government, as well as that of other countries, are making to create awareness about menstrual hygiene. It's a universal issue."
 
Sanitary pads in India are considered as a luxury and not a necessity in many villages in India. When he was asked if his film can bring any changes to this thinking, the director answered, "It will. Cinema is a powerful medium. When people say that, 'PadMan is coming', they are telling a word, which they never said before". 

 Akshay Kumar is an Indian-born Canadian actor, producer, martial artist, stuntman and television personality. In a career spanning more than twenty-five years, Kumar has appeared in over a hundred Hindi films and has won several awards including the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in Rustom and two Filmfare Awards.
