After losing the membership of the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi is coming to Wayanad for the first time. Let us tell you that Rahul Gandhi won the Wayanad seat in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. Despite having no connection with the South and contesting from this seat for the first time, Rahul got 4.31 lakh votes here.

 

Giving information about Rahul Gandhi's visit, T Siddiqui, a Congress member of the Kerala Legislative Assembly, said that 10,000 people can attend Rahul Gandhi's public meeting. During this, Congress National General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will also be present in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. Siddiqui has described Rahul Gandhi's programme as a show of strength against disqualification. Let us inform you that Rahul Gandhi reached Parliament after winning the election from the Wayanad seat. However, according to the 2013 decision of the Supreme Court, after Rahul was sentenced to two years in prison in the defamation case, he lost his Lok Sabha membership. In fact, the Supreme Court said in its order that if any public representative is punished for two years or more, his membership will automatically end.

Let us tell you that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi made a controversial statement regarding the Modi surname. A defamation case was registered on his statement, after which he was sentenced to two years. Mentioning leaders like Nirav Modi and Lalit Modi in his statement, he said all thieves have Modi in their surname. At the same time, on April 3, the Sessions Court of Surat granted bail to Rahul Gandhi. After this, Rahul Gandhi filed a petition in the sessions court to stay the conviction. The court will hear this on April 13. Earlier today, i.e. on April 11, BJP MLA from Gujarat Purnesh Modi, who filed a defamation case against Rahul Gandhi in this matter, will file his reply in the sessions court.
