NEW DELHI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took care Nirbhaya's brokenhearted family and helped them sensitively as well as economically, all without drawing attention to himself, asserted Nirbhaya's father.
Nirbhaya's father Badrinath Singh said many came to help the family at first after his daughter was sexually assaulted to death in 2012, but "it was Gandhi who stood by us always and had firmly told us to keep it a secret",
"The incident left a permanent mark but Gandhi came like an angel. Whatever the politics, he has been an angel to us," said Singh
23- year old Nirbhaya, then was gang-raped and cruelly assaulted on December 16, 2012. The assault was the cause of her mournful death 13 days later.
The Congress Vice-president Rahul Gandhi especially counseled Nirbhaya's brother, and even assisted him to become a pilot, said Nirbhaya's father. He added that he has no interest in politics and his acknowledgment of the Congress leader's support has no political agenda.
Nirbhaya's father said the Congress leader advised and encouraged his son frequently and motivated him to hold up his family.
"My son (Singh rebuff to name him) is now a pilot. He completed his training recently. He has joined IndiGo Airlines and is already flying planes. And it is true it was possible because of Rahul Gandhi," said Nirbhaya's father Singh, who works at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
