Rain continues for second day in Mumbai, five injured

Mumbai: Mumbai and its adjoining areas received heavy rains for the second day on Saturday. Officials said the rain may not have affected normal life in the city, but at least five people have been injured in rain-related incidents. Local trains, considered Mumbai's lifeline, have largely been unaffected and have been running since time.

However, in view of the Met Department's forecast of heavy rains, some passenger and express trains running between Mumbai and Pune have been cancelled by the Central Railway. A release issued by central railway said, the Mumbai-Pune Pragati Express, Mumbai-Pune Singhgad Express, Bhusawal-Mumbai Passenger, Pune-Panvel Passenger have been cancelled on Saturday and Sunday in view of the rain.

According to the release, the Bhusawal-Pune Express has been diverted to Daund-Manmad. According to officials of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), 39 short circuits, tree uprooting or twig collapse have dearly reported from different parts of the city. He said five persons were injured in two different incidents of wall collapse in the city.
