Jaipur: Rajasthan's POCSO court on Thursday sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a 9-year-old girl. At the same time, the court has imposed a fine of 50,000 rupees on the convict. In such a situation, the accused Santosh Bhil will now have to remain behind bars till his last breath.
Kankaroli police station officer Yogendra Vyas said a case of rape of an innocent 9-year-old girl came to light in the area on September 27. In this case, the police arrested the accused from the Dabok police station area of Udaipur on September 29 in just 48 hours. In view of the seriousness of the case, the police took the matter under the officer scheme and produced the accused before the court within 7 days on October 6 to get the girl justice at the earliest. The Kankaroli police had produced 42 witnesses and 88 documents in court.
Special Public Prosecutor of POCSO Court Rahul Sanadhya said that the special court heard the case on priority in just 12 days. The court heard 10 consecutive appearances in the case and pronounced the sentence on the accused on Wednesday after hearing the final arguments of both parties. A fine of Rs. 50,000 has also been imposed on the accused.
