Patna: A statement by the Bihar Education Minister has created an uproar. Education Minister Chandrashekhar has described 'Ramcharitmanas' as a hate book. Addressing students at the convocation of Nalanda Open University in Patna, he described Ramcharitmanas as a book that divides society. Now there is politics in this statement. After making the statement, when he was questioned in this regard, he said his words about Ramcharitmanas were correct.

After the convocation, when education minister Chandrashekhar was asked about his statement on Ramcharitmanas, he said, "In Manusmriti, abuses were hurled against a large section of the society comprising 85 percent of the population. It is written in the Uttar Kanda of Ramcharitmanas that people of lower castes become poisonous like snakes after receiving education. These are texts that sow hatred.'' Further, he said, "Manusmriti in one era, Ramcharitmanas in another era, Guru Gowalkar's Bunch of Thought in the third era, all these divide the country, the society in hatred. Hatred will never make a country great. Only love will make the country great.''

BJP's national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla has tweeted about the controversial statement made by Education Minister Chandrashekhar regarding Ramcharitmanas. He wrote, "The education minister of Bihar said 'Ramcharitmanas' is a hate-spreading book." A few days ago, Jagdanand Singh had described Ram Janmabhoomi as a 'land of hatred'. This is not a coincidence. This is the industry of vote bank 'Hindu Aastha Pe Karo Chot, Taki Mile Vote', and lobbying of SIMI and PFI.'' Will action be taken? Popular poet Kumar Vishwas has also tweeted on Chandrashekhar's statement tagging Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Kumar Vishwas wrote, "Respected @NitishKumar ji. Your uneducated education minister, who is making Lord Shankar's name meaningless, needs education very urgently. You have great respect in my mind, so I am presenting myself with this difficult task.''
