In a statement on Sunday, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the BCCI will be allowed to organize the Indian Premier League (IPL 2020) only after the Indian government controls the conditions affected by the coronavirus. Rijiju said that IPL will happen only when there is no threat to the health of the people. He said, 'In India, the government will have to take a decision on this and it will depend on how we control the state of the epidemic and how the country moves forward. At the moment, we cannot endanger the health of our countrymen just because we have to organize a sports competition. Our focus is on fighting against Covid-19.

The BCCI is currently considering organizing the IPL between October and November. However, the T20 World Cup is also scheduled to be held in October-November. Only one of these two tournaments will be organized.

There is no clarity about which tournament will be played in IPL or T20 World Cup and which will be canceled. For the BCCI, the IPL is a very important tournament, but from the perspective of international cricket, the World Cup is the biggest tournament. However, neither of the two tournaments can be organized before the coronavirus epidemic comes under control. So for the time being fans only have to wait.
