New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday said that there has been a campaign to defame freedom fighter Veer Savarkar since independence and now the next target could be Swami Vivekananda, Dayanand Saraswati and Maharishi Arvind.

Mohan Bhagwat said this while releasing Uday Mahurkar and Chirayu Pandit's book 'Veer Savarkar: The Man Who Could Have Prevented Partition.' Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was also present at the event. RSS chief said at the release of the book on Veer Savarkar that Savarkar ji's Hindutva, Vivekananda's Hindutva became the trend of saying such a thing, Hindutva is the same, it is already there and it will remain till the end. Savarkar Ji saw the situation and thought it necessary to declare it loudly. Even after so many years, when we look at the situation, it comes to mind that there was a need to speak loudly, if everyone spoke, it would not have been divided, the Sangh chief said.

Sangh chief Bhagwat further said, "India today lacks really accurate information about Savarkar. It's a problem. A campaign was launched to defame Savarkar. It went fiercely after independence.'' He said it happened because Savarkar was in front. Those whose workshops would be closed by connecting India did not like it.
