Punjab police have slapped charges of ‘hurting religious sentiments’ (IPC 295) on both the men killed in Amritsar and Kapurthala. No case yet on their killers— Swati Goel Sharma (@swati_gs) December 20, 2021
However, it is now reported that a case has been registered against the two deceased under IPC 295 (inciting religious sentiments by attempting to destroy objects or places of worship considered sacred by a community). During 45 minutes, the officers received 8 calls in the press of the Kapurthala police and during this time the police officers changed their statements. IG received 5 calls and SSP 3 times. The camping person at Nizampur has also made a statement to the police that the man had come to Kapurthala Gurdwara with the intention of stealing. While the Sikh mob alleged that the atrocities were committed and 'Nishan Sahib' was despised.
In a press conference, the police had also registered a case of restraining government personnel from duty and attempting to kill them in the case. Police had said that social media is being investigated, which was used to provoke the entire case. Police had informed the deceased that he seemed to be a migrant labourer. Later, the police said that no case of murder has been registered. It may be noted that the identity of the two youths killed in Amritsar and Kapurthala has not been revealed so far. The administration is ascertaining that the two did not know each other and are not part of the conspiracy. Efforts are being made to trace both from the Aadhaar card database. Whether it is stated CM Charanjeet Singh Channi or opposition Shi'ite, everyone is talking about a conspiracy. In the last 8 years, 100 cases of alleged cruelty have been reported.
