'Safeena wasn't toxic' Alia Bhatt on her Gully Boy character

Alia Bhatt is riding high on the success as she has delivered back to back hit. After delivering the phenomenal performance in Raazi the actress amazed the audience with her work in Gully Boy.   Gully Boy was a superhitat the box office. Directed by Zoya Akhtar, the film also starred Ranveer Singh in the lead role. In Gully Boy, Alia played the role of Ranveer's girlfriend, Safeena. Safeena was a very possessive character who had anger issues such that she would end up hitting people.

In an interview with Mid Day, Alia Bhatt was asked her views on people calling Safeena violent. The Highway actress said that she was her character as wild and that was liberating. Alia added that she doesn't endorse violence but she was real. Bhatt said, "What else would happen to someone who has been pigeonholed? She built up a lot of negative energy inside her, but as a person, she wasn’t toxic."

On the workfront,  Alia Bhatt is busy with the promotions of her film Kalank. Directed by Abhishek Varman, the film also stars Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit, Sanjay Dutt, Aditya Roy Kapur andSonakshi Sinha.

Kalank is the first period film Alia is a part of. The film hits the screens on April 17, 2019.
