Schools in Meghalaya to reopen fully for Classes 9-12 in urban, rural areas

Schools in Meghalaya were closed due to winter vacation. The schools in the states will reopen fully for Classes 9 to 12 in both urban and rural areas from Monday (January 11), after a winter break of 21 days. 

For students of 1-5 standards, classes will be partly opened in the rural areas, and remain closed in urban/semi-urban towns. For students of 6-8 standards, schools will open completely in the rural areas and for students of 9 to 12, classes will reopen fully in both urban and rural areas. However, in urban/semi-urban towns of Shillong, Nongpoh, Khanapara, Jowai, Byrnihat, Tura, and Jorabat, the schools will open partly.

The early reopening of schools is being done to finish the courses and prepare for the final board examinations. The academic institutions remained closed from December 21, 2020-January 10, 2021.
