CRPF Jawan Martyred In Naxal Encounter In Chhattisgarh

Raipur: An encounter broke out between Maoists and security forces this morning in Naxal-affected Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. In this encounter, a young CRPF soldier was martyred. Officials said that the encounter between CRPF and Naxalites took place at 4 am. Martyred soldier Kamata Prasad was from the 151st Battalion of CRPF.

The encounter took place when the 151st Battalion, Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (COBRA) and the state police were running a search operation in the jungles.

DIG Sundarraj P has said that the joint teams of CRPF 151st Battalion and COBRA 204th Battalion were involved in the operation started on Wednesday night. When the patrolling team was laying siege to a forest near Jerepalli village, an organization of Naxalites opened fire on the security forces. In which a CRPF jawan was shot. However, the Naxalites escaped from the scene soon.

The DIG has said that CRPF jawan Kamta Prasad was seriously injured in an encounter with Naxalites. He said that while being taken to a nearby hospital, Kamata Prasad died. Officials have said that some Maoists are also killed in the firing. Search operation is still going on in the area.
