New Delhi: A great good news is coming out for the countrymen. Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan is to launch the first indigenous vaccine developed for pneumonia next week. That is, the vaccine will be available in the market since the launch. This vaccine has been developed by the Serum Institute of India.
According to sources, the vaccine will be much cheaper than the vaccines currently being provided by the other two foreign companies. India's drug regulator, the drug regulator, had allowed the vaccine 'pneumococcal polysaccharide conjugate' to be marketed in July itself after reviewing the first, second and third phases of clinical trials of vaccines obtained from the Pune-based institute.
Sources said that the vaccine will be more affordable than Pfizer's NYSE PFE and GlaxoSmithKline's LSE GSK. In a letter to Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan, Prakash Kumar Singh, under the director of government and regulatory affairs at the Serum Institute, said, "It has always been our endeavour to fulfil PM Modi's dream under The Vocal for Local and Make in India for the world."
