Pune: In view of the lack of medical oxygen for corona patients in Maharashtra, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) National President Sharad Pawar on Friday appealed to sugar mills to focus on producing life-saving gas in their plants. Sharad Pawar, head of The Vasantdada Sugar Institute (VSI) in Pune, made the appeal through a letter written by the institute's director-general Shivajirao Deshmukh to sugar mills on Thursday.

"In view of the current situation of supply of medical oxygen to hospitals, NCP chief Sharad Pawar has said that sugar mills which are still in the running of sugarcane crushing and whose premises have energy production plants should focus on oxygen production," Dekhmukh wrote in his letter. These two things exist.

The letter says that in the present scenario, when medical oxygen is essential for corona patients, it is imperative that sugar mills come forward and start producing oxygen in their premises by investing capital if required using available resources and manpower.
