Kochi: Youth Congress is organizing a talk on the topic 'Challenges to Sangh Parivar and Secularism' in Kozhikode, Kerala today i.e. Sunday (November 20). Now the organizers have removed Congress Lok Sabha MP Shashi Tharoor from hosting it. Not only this, Congress or Youth Congress has not given any reason behind this. Tharoor is on a four-day tour of North Kerala.

The event was organized by the Kozhikode District Youth Congress amid Tharoor's visit. However, Tharoor sacked out of the event at the last minute. It is believed that a section of the Congress itself was upset with Tharoor being called. Regarding this, Tharoor said, ''Whenever I am in Kozhikode, DCC invites me to a program. I thought it was a similar invitation. I think, they were inconvenienced a bit, but I don't have a problem with that. Anyway, I have a busy schedule in Kozhikode.''

When Tharoor was asked by media persons whether his growing stature is a threat to anyone? To this Tharoor replied, 'I am not afraid of anyone and I do not think anyone should be afraid of me.' Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan is also participating in this program. Raghavan is the one who supported Tharoor in the election of Congress President. Tharoor was a candidate for the Congress President's election and contested against Mallikarjun Kharge, a candidate supported by the Gandhi family, but lost. Earlier, Tharoor had put forth the demand for organizational changes in Congress several times in front of the Gandhi family, and even because of this the Gandhi family was said to be somewhat angry with him.

Regarding the removal of Tharoor from this program, the vice-president of the state unit of Youth Congress and former MLA KS Sabrinadhan said in a Facebook post that, 'Through this program, Tharoor could have highlighted the secular stand of the Congress in North Kerala, but the media I came to know that the program was instructed to be changed by some people. Tharoor met Thamarassery Catholic Bishop Remigios Inchananiyil along with Kozhikode MP MK Raghavan on Saturday evening. The bishop is known to take up farmers' issues and Tharoor's meeting with the clergy is seen as an attempt to win the farmers' trust in the Christian community.'
