New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday addressed the nation on the occasion of 350th anniversary of chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation. "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj ended the mentality of slavery and shivaji maharaj always kept the unity and integrity of India paramount. He further said that today, in the vision of 'Ek Bharat-Shreshtha Bharat', only the reflection of Shivaji Maharaj's thoughts can be clearly seen.

According to the report, PM Modi has said that today, the coronation day of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj has brought new consciousness, new energy. "The coronation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is a wonderful and unique chapter of that period. National welfare and public welfare have been the basic elements of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's system of governance. Today, I bow at the feet of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj." The Prime Minister said that at a time when hundreds of years of slavery had taken away the confidence of the people of India, it was a very difficult task to instill confidence in the people.  During that period, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj not only fought the invaders, but also expressed confidence in the public mind that self-rule was possible.

Describing Shivaji's governance and policies as relevant even today, Prime Minister Modi praised his strategic capability. It is the good fortune of our government that taking inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, India freed the country's navy from a mark of slavery last year. By ending the identity of British rule, Shivaji Maharaj's raj-mudra has been given a place. On September 2, 2022, the Government of India changed the naval flag and removed the St. George's Cross, a symbol of slavery of the British. The new flag has Satyamev Jayate written on one side, while the anchor remains on the other side. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is also considered the father of the Indian Navy.
