Mumbai: Almost an agreement has been reached on the alliance between BJP and Shiv Sena for Maharashtra Assembly elections. Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray has given some similar indications in the press conference on Friday. He claimed that within two days there will be an announcement regarding the seat sharing between the two parties. Uddhav Thackeray's statement shows that Shiv Sena's stance on seats is not stubborn but soft.
Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray also said that the seats in the alliance will be divided accordingly which was finalized during the Lok Sabha elections in a meeting with BJP President Amit Shah and Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis. It is noteworthy that in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Shiv Sena fielded 23 seats, while BJP fielded 25 seats. Thus, in the Lok Sabha elections, BJP was in the role of elder brother. The way Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray has talked about the allocation of seats in the assembly as per the formula for the Lok Sabha elections.
This indicates that even in the assembly elections, the BJP will contest more seats in the role of elder brother. However, Shiv Sena has been demanding equal seats in the east. Even during the Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had given two seats less than its own, ignoring its demand.
