Srinagar: A new twist has come in the alleged fake encounter case in Shopian, Jammu and Kashmir. The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to hand over the bodies of three people killed in the alleged encounter in Rajouri area to their families. IG Kashmir Vijay Kumar said DNA samples match with the family, so three bodies will be removed from the tomb and handed over to their families.

Two persons were remanded to eight-day police custody by the District Court on Tuesday in the case. A senior police official said, "We have arrested two persons in the case. According to the report, the two arrested persons related to the case are local associates who have been detained by the police on charges of criminal conspiracy. Enquiries are continuing to disclose the case. Three labourers were killed in the encounter and buried as terrorists on July 18. The families of the three missing labourers came to know about it. Police took DNA samples of families and it matched the DNA of the bodies".

The Jammu and Kashmir DGP had said on Monday that the investigation into the Shopian Encounter case is at an end. The family members of these youths have urged Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha to look into the entire matter. It was also urged to return the dead bodies.
