Gangtok: CM Prem Singh Tamang has announced closure of schools in the state till April 30 amid the growing corona havoc in Sikkim. Earlier this month, the state government had earlier announced the closure of schools by April 20. The deadline has now been extended to April 30.

CM Tamang has also announced that government offices will open with only 50 per cent of the workforce from April 22 to prevent the virus from spreading. This office issues various government notifications and security protocols in the state. Former CM Pawan Kumar Chamling has also been associated with the covid Security Campaign by cancelling all socio-political programmes and scheduled visits in various villages of the state since April 19, amid rising corona cases in the state and the country.

Coming to the ruling government, the CM himself had arrived at the fisheries department's 'Fish Fair' programme at MG Marg on April 20 and announced it there. Several stalls have been set up on MG Marg as part of the fair, which will be set up by April 21.
