Srinagar: More than 67,000 pilgrims have visited Amarnath during the first five days, while another group of 5,124 pilgrims on Saturday left for the holy cave from Jammu. Officials have given information in this regard.  On Saturday, two security convoys from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas left for the Kashmir Valley in a tribute. The trip started on July 1.

A police official said, out of these, 1,994 passengers left for Baltal Base Camp at 3.20 in the wee hours in the first security convoy, while 3,130 passengers left for Pahalgam Base Camp in the second security convoy at 3.20 am. The Regional Meteorological Office in its forecast has predicted cloudy skies on both sides of the holy cave on Saturday. This year's 45-day annual Hindu Pilgrimage will be completed with Shravan Purnima on 15th August at Amarnath Cave Shrine, located 3,888 m above sea level.

Devotees reach the holy cave by the traditional Pahalgam route or by the Baltal route. Helicopter services are available for pilgrims in both the base camps. Local Muslims have always helped ensure that their Hindu brothers can travel easily and conveniently.
