Southern Railway started 'Swachhta Pakhwada'

HYDERABAD: Environment and Housekeeping Management (NHM) wing of Railway Headquarters functioning under the aegis of Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer Southern Railway S Srinivas organized a special cleanliness drive 'Swachhta Pakhwada' to spread the message of 'No to Single Use Plastic' on Thursday. Organized a rally to the employees and rail users.

The cadets of Bharat Scouts and Guides participated in the rally and also organized a mime show to create awareness. Earlier, General Manager John Thomas inaugurated the campaign by literally administering the oath of 'Cleanliness' to the officers and employees of the Headquarters. In addition to regular inspections by officers and supervisors at trains and stations, an intensive cleanliness drive will be undertaken with a focus on 'dustbin', litter-waste, plastic waste management. All the divisions and workshops of the railway started the campaign.

During the 'Swachhta Pakhwada', Southern Railway and its divisions will organize various theme-based cleanliness drives with the help of NGOs, Scouts and Guides and volunteers. Employees will contribute to this campaign by cleaning their workspace and participating in various awareness programmes. The employees working in the divisional offices and establishments were administered the oath of cleanliness. Railways appeals to rail-users to join hands in maintaining high standards of cleanliness in trains, stations and tracks
