Producer Boney Kapoor has finally spoken publicly on his wife Sridevi’s sudden demise on February 24. He confided into his old friend Komal Nahata, a trade analyst, who later wrote Kapoor’s account on his blog. Boney Kapoor spoke about his unplanned visit to Dubai, where Sridevi was attending a family wedding, him meeting the late superstar and finally when he discovered her dead body in the bathtub.

The two friends spoke on this on Wednesday before Sridevi’s funeral.

Boney Kapoor told Komal Nahata that he opened the unlocked bathroom door after his numerous calls for Sridevi and a knock on the door was not responded to. Kapoor had arrived in Dubai barely two hours before Sridevi’s death. He had hugged and kissed his ‘jaan’. He opened the bathroom door to find Sridevi lying stationary in the bathtub full of water.

Nahata, in his blog, recalled a similar incident when Boney Kapoor had travelled to Bangalore to surprise Sridevi, where she was shooting for a film alongside Anil Kapoor. On February 24, the couple had talked on the phone in the morning before Boney reached Dubai the same evening.

After reaching Dubai, Boney immediately headed to the hotel where Sridevi was staying. He got a duplicate key to her room and surprised her. They hugged, kissed, and chatted for half an hour before deciding to go on a dinner same night. Sridevi went to take a bath to get ready for the dinner, never to come back.

Boney Kapoor later found her completely immersed in the bathtub. How did it all happen remains a mystery.

“The mystery will remain unsolved. But that was not of much relevance to her near and dear ones. What mattered the most was this: Sridevi, the vivacious, beautiful and talented heartthrob of millions, had become late Sridevi.,” concluded Komal Nahata.
