IAS lobby badly upset by Yogi government's tough decisions

The IAS lobby did not like the implementation of the police commissioner system. The system has been specially implemented in Uttar Pradesh's capital Lucknow and Gautam Buddha Nagar. Due to the decision of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, he is not openly opposing it. Uttar Pradesh IAS Association has also preferred to remain silent. At the same time, retired IAS officers openly expressed their opinion. He expressed the apprehension that this new system will deteriorate the balance between police and administration.

In his statement, former Chief Secretary Yogendra Narayan said that in the administrative structure, the Civilian Authority has been considered supreme. The villagers also used to complain to the DM about revenue and police. Even today, the common man is afraid of police uniform. For this reason, they hesitate to go to the police. The public reaches the DM easily. The present system is such that a balance is maintained between the DM and the SP. This balance in the commissioner system will be disturbed.

Regarding this matter, former Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan says that DM and SP do good work in the district by establishing coordination. In many places there are demonstrations related to water, electricity and roads, then the DM takes the decision to remove civil problems. The government did not clarify why it implemented the police commissioner system. Where did he see the flaw in the current system? Right now the police harassment complaint comes from the DM, but in the new system, there will be no one to listen to the police complaint.
