Total lockdown in West Bengal in view of increasing COVID19 cases

Kolkata: During the entire lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of corona infection in West Bengal, normal life is being affected in Kolkata.  Cases of violation of lockdown restrictions have also come up in some districts of the state. All private public transport, government and private offices, banks and other commercial establishments remained closed except for essential services during the lockdown.

Flight operations on the Kolkata International Airport have remained closed, while the timing of long-distance trains has also been changed. Apart from this, ferry services have also been closed. Necessary services kept outside the purview of the lockdown such as drug shops and health centres remained open. Permission to open petrol pumps in corona lockdown is given by the administration. Schools, colleges and other educational institutions are closed since the first phase of nationwide lockdown was implemented in the month of March in the country.

The government of West Bengal has decided to implement a bi-weekly complete lockdown to prevent corona infection in the state, under which restrictions have been imposed on Thursday. Total lockdown will be in force on August 31 in the state. After the death of 55 patients of Corona in West Bengal, the death toll has increased to 2,964 on Wednesday. This information was given in the bulletin issued by the state health department. Apart from this, the total number of corona patients has increased to 1,47,775 after 2,974 new cases were revealed.
