New Delhi: The apex court has issued guidelines to the Central government by September 23 directing it to file compliance reports in the case of issuing death certificates and compensation to those who lost their lives due to coronavirus infection across the country. At the same time, the court said that corona suicides should also be treated as covid-19 deaths.

The apex court has asked the government to reconsider its decision not to accept covid as the cause of death in the suicide case of a patient suffering from coronavirus infection. During the hearing, the court said it could not be accepted. There are some issues in the guideline that the government should reconsider. The Supreme Court will now hear the case on September 23.

So far, it is clear from the central government's stand that deaths within 30 days from the date of taking swab samples for investigation of coronavirus infection or medically fixed date in the Covid-19 case will be treated as deaths due to Covid-19. The central government has said this in an affidavit filed in the apex court.
