Supreme Court grants permission to register diesel vehicles under certain conditions

The Apex Court has approved the registration of BS-IV diesel vehicle purchased before April 1 which are to be used by municipal corporations and Delhi Police in the required public services and public utility services. The supreme court has ordered that diesel trains which have been purchased before 1st April 2020 and are used for necessary public utility services will be registered in accordance with BS-IV norms and vehicles purchased after 1st April 2020 will be registered in accordance with BS-VI norms.

The National Green Tribunal had earlier refused to sanction the registration of diesel trains of the SPG. On a plea filed by the Special Security Team for sanction of registration of diesel trains, the Apex court had summoned the centre and the Delhi government earlier this month. This is now a great achievement for the owners of diesel vehicles.

On the other hand, the coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc in the country. Corona cases are increasing considerably. All the steps were taken by the Government to save the people from the pandemic, but during the unlock, the corona cases increased. According to data released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Friday, 96,424 new coronavirus cases have been reported in India in the last 24 hours. There have also been 1,174 deaths. The total number of positive cases in the country has increased to 52,14,678.
