NEW DELHI: The hearing on a petition filed by fugitive liquor baron Vijay Mallya in the Supreme Court has been deferred on Friday. The matter will now be heard on August 13. The petition filed in the apex court against Vijay Mallya's action on his personal and family property was scheduled to be heard on Friday. However, Mallya's lawyer Fali S. Nariman was not healthy and the hearing was postponed.

It may be mentioned that even in the previous hearing, Fali S Nariman had urged the court to postpone the hearing. The court had adjourned the hearing till Friday. In fact, Mallya has filed a petition in the apex court seeking a stay on the process of action and seizure of his properties.

Vijay Mallya has said that only property belonging to Kingfisher company should be confiscated and his personal and family property cannot be confiscated. Mallya had earlier suffered a major setback from the Bombay High Court. The High Court had dismissed the appeal seeking a stay on the proceedings against Mallya and his property.
