Pollution in Delhi-NCR reprimands Central government, SC says, impose lockdown

New Delhi: Delhi-NCR continues to be hit by pollution. Meanwhile, the supreme court on Saturday heard the issue of pollution. Supreme Court slammed the Central government expressing concern over the increased level of pollution. The court also directed the central government to impose a two-day lockdown as an immediate measure to tackle pollution.

Chief Justice (CJI) NV Ramanna said, "I don't want to say how much the impact of stubble burning on pollution and how much the rest of the crackers, vehicles, dust and construction have contributed''. You tell us what are the quick measures to control pollution. CJI further said, if possible, put a two-day lockdown. State that the hearing in the apex court has been adjourned till 10:30 am on Monday.

The Supreme Court has asked the Centre and all states to brief them on the decisions taken in the emergency meeting on pollution reduction measures. CJI NV Ramanna told the Centre that you have a perception that the farmer is responsible for the entire pollution. Why didn't you pay attention to the pollution of firecrackers and vehicles?
