New Delhi: The apex court has refused to hear the petition filed against the liquor house access service in Pune and Nashik. The apex court said in a hearing on Thursday that liquor is not an essential thing, so why should we give any order on it? This petition was filed on behalf of Maharashtra Wine Merchants Association, on which the court has refused to give its verdict.
A similar petition was filed in the top court at the beginning of July. The petition demanded that the liquor shops opened during the lockdown be ordered to close up again. The petition said that rules and norms like physical distance are not being followed in the shops, therefore, liquor shops should be closed up. Dismissing this petition, the top court refused to hear.
Earlier, the apex court overturned the decision of the Tamil Nadu High Court, which ordered the closure of liquor shops. The apex court said that it depends on the Tamil Nadu government how to sell liquor in the state. The apex court said that how the sale of liquor will be implemented, this court cannot determine. It comes under the jurisdiction of the state government.
