The Supreme Court has announced that actual hearings of cases, as well as virtual hearings, will begin on September 1. According to a high court, the final hearing or routine issues listed on non-miscellaneous days may be heard in the physical mode in order to progressively ease the resumption of the physical hearing.

According to the source, the decision may be made by the concerned bench, which would take into account the number of parties involved in the case as well as the restricted capacity of the courtrooms. The SOP has been issued by the secretary-general of the top court. Within 24 hours/ 1.00 p.m. the next day after the publication of the weekly list of final hearing/ routine cases, advocates-on-record must register on the top court's site and express their preferences for appearing before the relevant court either in person or through video/teleconferencing.

The SOP in its issues says that "In physical hearing with a hybrid option, one AoR, one arguing counsel and one junior counsel per party will be allowed entry; one registered clerk per party, as may be chosen by the AoR, shall be allowed entry to carry paper books /journals, etc. of the Counsels up to the Courtrooms." Further, the SOP added that once hearing through physical mode is opted by the AoR or petitioner-in-person, hearing through video/teleconferencing mode to the party concerned will not be facilitated.
