New Delhi: In the case of alleged gang rape and death in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras district, the Supreme Court's decision can come today at 12 o'clock. The apex court will decide whether the Supreme Court or the High Court will supervise the CBI investigation. The court will also give a decision on the issue of transferring the trial of the case from Uttar Pradesh to Delhi. The court will also give a decision about the security provided to the victim's family.

The bench of Chief Justice of India (CJI) SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian reserved its verdict on 15 October on public interest litigation and several other intervention petitions filed by activists and lawyers. It was argued in the petitions that fair trial is not possible in Uttar Pradesh, as the investigation was allegedly affected.

The lawyer appearing for the victim family had told the Supreme Court that after the completion of the investigation, in this case, the trial should be shifted to Delhi outside Uttar Pradesh. A 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped by four accused in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh. During treatment, the girl died on September 29 at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi. During the hearing in the Supreme Court, senior advocate Indira Jaising had feared that the case in Uttar Pradesh would not be fair.
