INX Media case: Supreme Court to hear Chidambaram's bail plea, High court dismisses

New Delhi: Former Finance Minister and Congress veteran P Chidambaram has moved the Supreme Court against the bail plea rejected by the Delhi High Court. Chidambaram on Monday filed a petition in this regard in the apex court. Chidambaram was arrested from his home on August 21 by the CBI in the INX Media case.

After this, Chidambaram was also arrested by the ED in the money laundering case. However, on the other hand, he was granted bail on October 22 in the CBI case, but he could not come out of jail due to arrest by ED. Chidambaram is currently lodged in Tihar Jail in Delhi. Kapil Sibal, on behalf of Chidambaram, placed the matter before a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice Sharad Arvind Bobde for bail. Chief Justice Bobde was sworn in as the 47th Chief Justice of the country on Monday.

Congress leader P. Chidambaram reached the Supreme Court on Monday challenging the Delhi High Court order dismissing his bail plea in the INX Media money laundering case. Kapil Sibal told the bench headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde that former Finance Minister Chidambaram has been in jail for almost 90 days and his bail plea should be heard on Tuesday or Wednesday. The court said to Sibal, 'We will see.'
