Chennai: A 29-year-old soldier died after being attacked by a councilor of the ruling DML in the Krishnagiri district of Tamil Nadu. Police said, there was an argument between Sepoy Prabhu and DMK councilor Chinnasamy over washing clothes on a public tank. Police said that the soldier's brother Prabhakaran was also injured in the attack.

Later on February 8, there was a fierce fight between the two again. The crowd joined the DMK councilor. Soldier Prabhu, who was injured in the attack, was admitted to the hospital, where he died last night. After registering a case, the police started their action. The next day of the incident i.e. February 9, 6 accused were arrested. Three more people, including the DMK councilor, were arrested on Wednesday. Police said the mob had used firewood to attack the soldier.

The ruling DMK has not yet reacted to the murder. BJP state unit president Annamalai said, "There is no security for a soldier in his hometown. People are looking at the indifferent CM who has the home department.''
