47 temples to give 10 crore in CM Relief Fund, TN government's new decree

Chennai: The Palaniswami government of Tamil Nadu has ordered 47 temples in the state to deposit Rs 10 crore in the CM Relief Fund. The state government had earlier on April 16 ordered 5,450 tons of free rice to be distributed to 2,895 mosques in the month of Ramadan, so that the Rojedars would not have problems.

This order has been given at a time when the struggle to free the temple administration from the clutches of the government is increasing. The Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment Department (HR and CE) of the state government has ordered 47 temples to deposit Rs 10 crore in the CM Relief Fund in addition to the fixed amount to look after the poor.

HR and CE Principal Secretary K Panindra Reddy has ordered all the officials working under him in 47 temples including Madurai, Palani, Thiruchendur, Tirutani, Tiruvannamalai, Rameswaram, Maylapur to give food to the poor due to lockdown Support Rs. 35 lakhs from Surplus Fund towards feeding. Other temples have been asked to deposit from Rs 15 lakh to Rs 25 lakh. All 47 temples have to transfer a surplus fund of ten crores to CM Corona Relief Fund.
