Tamil Nadu Govt targets to fully vaccinate teenagers by January end

Chennai -Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramanian stated that the state has 33.45 lakh children aged 15 to 18 and that 100% vaccination in this age group will be accomplished by the end of January.

According to Subramanian, "The government wants to fully inoculate 33.45 lakh teenagers in the age category of 15 to 18 years old by the end of January. From January 10, booster doses will be given to frontline workers, health care workers, and individuals over 60 with comorbidities."

According to the Minister of Health, "In the state, there are 4 lakh engineering students, and about 46% of them have received their first dose of immunisation. The health department has been instructed to strengthen vaccination campaigns among college students."

Notably, COVID-19 vaccination drives for beneficiaries between the ages of 15 and 18 are set to commence across the country on Monday. The vaccine for the age group 15-18 years will begin on January 3, 2022, as declared by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 25, 2021, while the administration of the precautionary third dose for the vulnerable categories will begin on January 10, 2022.
