Chennai: A fire broke out at a cracker factory in Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu. Three people have died in the fire. The fire has been brought under control at the moment. The cause of the fire is being investigated. Earlier, a fire broke out in Bandipur forest area of Chamrajnagar district bordering Tamil Nadu.

The official informed that the fire had spread to 2000 hectares of 874 sq km of Bandipur forest. About 500 guards, officials, environmental volunteers, and locals had arrived to extinguish the blaze. In Bandipur, the movement of people and vehicles including cars, buses, and trucks was banned on Inter-State Roads and National Highway-67. The Bandipur region is a vast tiger habitat and is a biodiversity-rich area of the South Western Ghats.

This is the first time in the past few years that forest fires have started in Bandipur, due to sudden climate changes and rapid growth in the hay. He said there were no reports of casualties or injuries to animals, including tigers, wild bulls, deer, elephants, tigers, and leopards, as they had moved to the interior of the forest to escape the intense heat and spreading fires. But small animals, such as snakes and calves, were caught in the fire.
